Mouse As Cute As A Bug
I’m pretty accustomed to using the track pad on my MacBook, but sometimes it just doesn’t get the job done. The last thing I wanted, though, was another cable or adapter to connect and get in the way, so I avoided the various mouse options I had seen. Razer's Pro/Click Mobile solves those problems. The Bluetooth mouse, which runs on a pair of AA batteries, connected instantly to my Mac, with no installation software, no hassles. Best of all, it’s cute as hell (kinda like a VW Bug), comes in a variety of colors and costs less than $50. www.razerpro.com.

idiot-proof espresso 2.0
Illycaffè throws around words like “hyperinfusion” and “emulsion,” but what you want to know about its new HES (Hyper Espresso System) is this: anyone can turn out perfect shots with fabulous crema--the thin layer of copper-hued surface foam that indicates a well-made espresso--like an experienced seasoned barista using these idiot-proof capsules in the proper machine. Water (at just the right temperature) is pumped (at just the right pressure) into the capsule, which contains just the right amount of perfectly-ground espresso; then the mixture is forced though a valve, yielding an impeccable espresso. These new capsules, which contain Illy’s signature blend in regular or dark roast, work only with the Francis Francis! X7 ($699) and X8 ($799). Go to www.illyusa.com to purchase the machine and the capsules.

Definitely Shaken
"Shaken, not stirred" takes on new meaning when the shaker in question is Nambé's Twist. Made from a proprietary alloy and shaped liked a retro-futuristic missle, the Twist will no doubt add a touch of class to any handmade cocktail issuing from your bar. Anyone admiring this sleek munition-like vessel would be justified in exclaiming "it's the bomb!"

Espresso To Go
Miss the kick of quality espresso when you’re away from home and your favorite barista? With Aerobie’s AeroPress, you can pump your own perfect espressos on the road, whether you’re in a suite at the Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan or in a yurt in Central California. Load a scoop or two of your preferred java (finely ground) add near-boiling water (whether from a pot over a camp fire or the in-room coffee maker) and slowly push down the plunger to force the water through the grounds. In less than 20 seconds, you’ll have a fantastic espresso, complete with crema, waiting for you. (Add more hot water if you prefer an Americano.) The $30 kit includes a year’s worth of disposable microfilters.
